SERVING AS A CMA OFFICER
Running
for office
Any current CMA member may run for any office. We
strongly encourage anyone thinking about running for office
to sign up as early as possible to give membership a chance
to get to know the candidates and make wise choices. To
declare your intention to run for any office, please see
the instructions on the Candidates Page.
General
Requirements
All Directors should be able to give 2030 hours per
month to CMA and be able to travel to different cities for
meetings and training. All Area Representatives should have
a minimum of 10 hours per month available to work on CMA
projects, be able to travel to at least four meetings, and
should possess tact and tolerance.
All candidates should remember that officers names, phone numbers and email addresses are listed in each issue of Accord, and officers names are posted on the CMA website. Email access is essential, as email has become crucial to CMAs internal communications.
In addition, it is very important that Directors and Representatives be committed to protecting both the rights of the members and the status of the corporation.
Duties of Officers
Executive
Director
The Executive Director (ED) acts as a Fiduciary Officer
of the corporation, presides over meetings of the Board
of Directors, has general and active management of the affairs
of the Corporation, sees that all orders and resolutions
of the Board are carried into effect and carries out the
duties customarily performed by the office of President.
The Executive Director presides over the Festival Committees,
and supervises Area Representatives. The Executive Director
also performs other duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees.
Assistant
Executive Director
The Assistant Executive Director (AED) serves on the Festival
Committee and, in the absence of the ED, performs the ED’s
duties. The AED supervises CMA Societies, serves on the
Internet Committee, and is an advocate for the Membership.
The AED also performs other duties as assigned by the Board
of Directors or delegated by the Executive Director.
Director
of Communications
Director of Communications (DC) oversees production of the
Accord, and presides over the Publications Committee and
the Internet Committee. The DC shall also perform other
duties as are assigned by the Board of Directors or authorized
by the Executive Director.
Director
of Finance
The Director of Finance (DF) acts as a Fiduciary Officer
of the Corporation, keeps records of finances, keeps records
of finances, writes checks, receives all money paid to the
Corporation and deposit all funds to the corporate accounts,
ensures that tax returns are filed in a timely manner, and
provides the Membership with semi-annual financial reports
of the Corporation. The DF performs the duties carried out
by the office of treasurer and any other duties as assigned
by the Board of Directors or authorized by the Executive
Director.
Director
of Records
The Director of Records (DR) acts as a Fiduciary
Officer of the Corporation. The DR also acts as secretary
of all meetings of the Members and of the Board of Directors,
keeps proper minutes of such meetings, provides copies of
meeting minutes to members and other Directors, causes all
notices required of the Corporation to be given properly,
supervises the Administrator/Registrar, manages the membership
rolls in association with the Administrator, maintains Corporate
archives of official documents, serves as the official keeper
and issuer of proxies, and performs duties carried out by
the office of secretary. The DR shall also performs other
duties as assigned by the Board of Directors or authorized
by the Executive Director.
Area
Representatives
Area Representatives act as a liaison between the members
in their area and the general Membership or the Board. They
coordinate one aspect of each festival; report on area activities
in the Accord; and make membership information available
within the area.
Lead
Area Representatives
The Lead Representative of each area is responsible for
any and all communication to the Editor of the Accord, timely
reports to the Board of Directors and communication between
all other representatives in said area. The Lead Representative
also serves on the Member Grievance Committee.
This Letter of Commitment is signed by all elected officers of CMA when they take office at the beginning of each calendar year. It is also signed by several other appointees, such as our Administrators, senior festival staff, the printers of Accord and Society Coordinators.
